Lara Smith+ is a freelance writer and a stay-at-home mother of two. She is currently a feature writer for Suite101, and she also writes for The Content Authority.

She has a Bachelor of Arts with an English major and a double minor in History and Religious Studies. In 2001, her research paper entitled "The Beat Generation Writers and Abstract Expressionists of the Avant-Garde" was the winner of the Edmonton Journal Book Prize.

After graduating university, she worked at an upscale gift store where she was in charge of visual merchandising and window displays. From there, she went on to work as an editor for a market research firm.

When she is not writing, she can be found spending time with her family, gardening, reading, jogging, and searching for all things vintage and unique.
